Tacklebox for Android
Draft updated 9 September 2026
Tacklebox for Android (“the app”) is developed by Myatt Management Services Limited (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the app handles and why. It applies to the app only.
Your catches, photos, waters, fishing sessions, gear, presets, and settings are stored locally on your device using the app’s database. This data is not transmitted to us or to any server. It stays on your device unless you choose to back it up (see below).
If you enable live conditions, the app requests location permission and uses your approximate location only at that moment to fetch nearby weather, marine, tide, and river information. Your location is used to make those requests and is not stored as a precise fishing spot, and is not shared with us. When a catch records conditions, only the resulting weather summary (for example air temperature or moon phase) is saved on your device — not your coordinates.
You can attach photos to catches from your camera or photo library. These images are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere unless you use the optional features described below.
Create a photo backup or Season Book PDF locally, then choose its destination through Android’s share sheet. Backups are not encrypted. Protect exported copies and delete them from each destination when no longer needed. There is no direct Google Drive integration.
Sign in to iNaturalist through your browser. Tacklebox never sees your password. OAuth connection tokens are encrypted using Android Keystore. The legacy manually supplied API token remains in the app’s private database; credentials are excluded from backups. Identification sends the selected photo and applicable approximate location only when requested. Disconnect removes the local connection; revoke provider access in your iNaturalist account.
Two sessions are free. The optional one-time Unlimited purchase is processed by Google Play. Tacklebox verifies and caches the signed purchase receipt on-device; no card details or receipts are sent to a developer server. Resetting the journal does not reset the allowance. Optional notifications show session time and catch count without water names or photos. A rounded location and timestamp may be kept locally for bite windows.
When you use live conditions or optional features, requests go directly from your device to the relevant provider. Depending on which features you use, these may include:
These providers handle any data they receive under their own privacy policies. Requests use only the data needed for the feature; optional iNaturalist and Google Play requests use their respective account authorizations.
Location — used only to fetch live weather, marine, tide, and river conditions when you request them.
Camera / Photos — used only to attach a photo to a catch, at your choice.
You can grant or deny these at any time in your device settings. Denying them does not affect the app’s offline journaling features.
Because your data is stored on your device, you are in control of it. You can delete your catches, waters, sessions, gear and presets from within the app (Settings → delete), or remove everything by uninstalling the app. Manage or delete exported backups in each destination you chose.
Tacklebox is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
